I grew up in Jonesboro, AR. Graduated from high school in 2001, and went to work at various jobs. I never really thought about what I wanted to do with my life.
For a while, I lived with my best friend, Matt. Matt was dying from an undiagnosed illness and dealt with lots of pain. I watched him deal with pain so bad that no drug he took could touch it. One day, he asked me to rub his shoulders. I had no clue what I was doing, but I would have done anything to help him. So I did. The massage gave him relief when nothing else did. And without the side effects of all those drugs. He could actually sleep. So, for the next couple of years before he left this world, everyday after work I would massage his problem areas and he always felt better. Matt kept telling me I should go to school for massage. It took me a couple of years, but in 2010, I did it. I went to massage school, got my license in 2011, and changed my life.
I started my massage career at a local day spa, where I became lead therapist. I stayed there for about a year before leaving to work at a massage clinic with a more medical lean. See, working with my friend Matt gave me the passion to help other people dealing with pain and illness. I became certified in Manual Lymph Drainage (Vodder Technique) and Oncology Massage in 2013. Shortly after, I was able to do some work in a hospital setting working with oncology patients.
Most recently, I made the decision to leave that clinic and join Nature's Elements Studio of Massage Therapy. I wanted to further my career on my own terms. My desire has always been to be able to help other people. Here, I can combine all types of massage and bodywork and bring a little relief to those who need it.
Thanks, Matt, for helping me to find my passion and my path in life.
